Pelvic floor health before I had my first was not even on my radar.
I thought I would never have an issue with incontinence. Definitely had no idea what diastasis recti (abdominal separation) was. Through joining a postnatal fitness centre, a deep seeded love and appreciation of the pelvic floor developed. Fast-forward 4 years, I am now working with new families and making sure they know what services are available to them postpartum. Especially pelvic floor health which is vital for experiencing a higher quality of life.
Kate Jones: A Collaborative Spotlight
Through a mutual acquaintance, I had an opportunity to connect with Kate, a pelvic floor physiotherapist. I fell in love with what she has to offer. What made Kate stand out was her willingness to offer in-home service.
Convenience, taking better care of ourselves, and less stress is the name of the game in those first few months of life with baby. Combining postpartum care and pelvic floor care is a beautiful partnership.
Without further adieu, I introduce Kate:
“Hi, I’m Kate, owner of Kate Jones Physiotherapy. My vision is to empower women to take charge of their pelvic health. About 1 in 2 women have a pelvic dysfunction of some variety, whether that is leaking while laughing, a pelvic organ prolapse, or pain with sex. Women assume these things are inevitable as they age or have children.
Pelvic changes are actually dysfunctions
They NEED to learn that common pelvic changes are actually dysfunctions and that pelvic physiotherapy can help to improve or resolve many concerns. It is difficult for mamas of young children to get to appointments on time and find childcare. It can also be intimidating talking to a stranger about your bladder function and sex life in a new environment. These are some of the key reasons I offer home visits only and bring pelvic physiotherapy right to your living room.
When I’m not working, I enjoy running, climbing escarpment stairs, and playing with my toddler.”
